Announcing: Edible Monterey Bay’s 1st Anniversary Celebration

2We’re pleased to announce that tickets are now on sale for Edible Monterey Bay’s 1st anniversary celebration at Live Earth Farm on Saturday, October 13.

As a thank you to our many supporters, we will be charging just $75 per ticket—an unusually low price for a farm-to-table wine dinner, but one we are very happy to be able to offer to you!

The event will start at 3:30 p.m. with a tour by Tom Broz, founder of the beautiful organic Watsonville farm, which also runs the nonprofit Live Earth Discovery Program, which provides local school children with hands-on education about organic and sustainable food systems.

A reception with delicious local wines including Heller Estate Organic Vineyards and Storrs Winery will begin at 4:30 and be followed by an all-organic and local five-course dinner prepared by the talented Brad Briske, who is well know for his time as a chef at Main Street Garden in Soquel and Gabriella Café in Santa Cruz—and several farm-to-table events (and one farm-to-sea cave dinner) held by hosts around the region, including the celebrated Outstanding in the Field. A charcuterie specialist, Briske is running the charcuterie program at Casanova restaurant in Carmel.

Also preparing some of the dinner’s courses—in some cases with produce they’ve grown themselves—and helping to serve will be four local organizations that provide sustainable culinary training to help our at-risk teens become successful adults, including Food What?!, Lightfoot Industries, Pie Ranch and the Santa Cruz Regional Occupational Program. At the event, you’ll hear from some of the dynamic people who have developed and run these amazing organizations, and get to meet some of the youth who participate in them.

Finally, we’ll present our 2012 Local Heroes Awards, and kick off the vote for our 2013 Local Heroes. We’ll also recognize photographer Jim Kasson for his award for his photography in Edible Monterey Bay and feature the music of Anne and Pete Sibley.

The $75 ticket price is all-inclusive, covering dinner, wines from local vineyards, tax and tip. As seating is limited, we encourage you to purchase your tickets soon by clicking on the PayPal Button below.
