Odonata Winery to triple in size

denis_claireJanuary 7, 2014 – Odonata Wines owner and winemaker Denis Hoey signed a lease this week on a new 4,000 sq. ft. winery in the Harvey West neighborhood of Santa Cruz. “It’s a major big deal for me, I’m just laying it all on the line and going for my dream,” said the UCSC business grad. Hoey currently produces wine for his own label and custom clients in a 1,600 sq. ft. Westside facility shared with other members of Surf City Vintners collective.

The new winery will more than triple the size of his operation and will include a top of the line custom crushing facility to better serve his clients, which range from other wine labels to homeowners with small vineyards. He hopes to move into the new winery by April and someday open an event space or a tasting room there. But for the time being Odonata will keep its popular Mission St. tasting room open.
