August 20, 2021 – There is now a place to taste the fruits of the Gali family’s labors, straight from their 18 acres of grapes grown at their vineyard property in Corralitos. This weekend marks the grand opening of Janice and Joseph Gali’s inaugural tasting room at 21 West Main Street, in downtown Los Gatos. The couple, who live in Los Gatos, converted the space, built in 1902 and still in top drawer condition, into an open and inviting 1,300 square foot wine tasting room. The original fir floors, which were just refinished, make the perfect backdrop to the stunning natural edge wooden bar, and striking furniture, including leather chairs and cowhide ottomans.
Janice Gali told us their Corralitos vineyard was the source for much of interior décor. “There was a 20ft white cedar log on the property ready to be milled for the bar top. We also milled a walnut tree that was on the property, which we had made into two and three-foot cocktail tables for the tasting room. There’s a story behind each piece of furniture. We wanted to bring the vineyard into the tasting room.”

There is a large lounge area, with comfy leather chairs, cocktail tables, and an eye-catching 18-foot banquette beneath three large windows. They plan to feature local art in the space.
“There’s lots of standing room at the bar, and four people can enjoy sitting in the bay windows. We will offer charcuterie boxes and cheese-only boxes through our favorite local caterer, Table & Terrace Catering,” she says. There is a room for up to 50 people, for corporate parties, chef’s dinners, bridal showers, rehearsal dinners, lunches and celebrations.
Wines will be available in a tasting flight for $15 per person, waived with a two-bottle purchase or through joining the wine club. The Gali wine club offers allocations twice per year. Glasses of wine will also be available for $15, and charcuterie boxes are $25.
Currently, the estate wines on offer include a Rosé, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Tempranillo and Syrah. They have also planted Albariño, which they should be able to harvest in 2023. Janice says they’re building on the popularity of their Tempranillo, which seems to have struck a chord, to expand their Iberian footprint.
Gali wines are made by local legend Anthony Craig, who was among the shining stars at David Bruce Winery during the late 1990s and early 2000s, when the winery was at its zenith. Craig makes the Gali wines at Silver Mountain, where he also crafts wines under his own label, Sonnet Cellars.
Parking is available in front of the tasting room, as well as in several lots throughout the town. The new Gali Tasting Room will be open Wednesday and Thursday, noon until 6pm; Friday, noon until 7pm; Saturday, 11am until 7pm, and Sunday from 11am until 6pm. Reservations are not required. Private events can be booked by contacting: (408) 354-1468 | wine@galivineyards.com
