August 1, 2017 – Ventana Big Sur is set to host an opening night gala for the Big Sur Food & Wine Festival taking place November 2-4. “We’re really excited, we’ve never had our opening there and it makes so much sense for them to showcase their remodel,” says organizer Aengus Wagner.
After the trials and tribulations of Big Sur during the winter storms and the road closures this summer, this year’s festival will be especially meaningful. “I’m so inspired by the volunteers who want to put on the festival to pick up the morale of our community, it needs a boost,” he says. “People are looking forward to it and we wouldn’t want to let them down.”
Ventana Big Sur will also host a winemaker panel on Friday morning and other highlights to take place throughout Big Sur include the popular Hiking with Stemware events and Magical Mystery Tours.
Post Ranch Inn will be hosting the Pinot Walkabout and a small luxury dinner party. “Having their support is just incredible,” says Wagner. “All these businesses are going through just as much pain.” In case Pfeiffer Canyon Bridge is not opened in time, he says some of the events will have to be moved.
BSF&W is put on each fall to raise money for community organizations and last year earned $25,000 to share with groups such as the Big Sur Fire Brigade, Big Sur Health Center and the Henry Miller Library. Organizers hope to raise substantially more this year by launching a new silent auction featuring an array of trips, experiences and other goodies. Those wishing to donate goods or services should visit the sponsors page of the website www.bigsurfoodandwine.org. Event tickets go on sale August 20.
