Flavors of Pacific Grove Is Live AND Safe

October 12, 2020 – Don’t call it a comeback.

No, really. Flavors of Pacific Grove 2020 is not the comeback that diners and restaurant owners alike ache for, but it is a number of things: a welcome step in that direction, the resumption of a time-honored community tradition, an important benefit, and a great way to sample Pagrovia’s tastier places for a reasonable sticker price ($60).

Participating restaurants for the event total around 20, and include memorable spots Passionfish, Fandango and jeninni kitchen + wine bar. It happens 5:30-8pm Thursday, Oct. 15.

“This event is about building community in a time of crisis,” says P.G. Chamber President Moe Ammar. “Some of our restaurants have been here for more than 30 years, thriving and surviving through decades of change. Now with this pandemic, they have truly seen it all and we want to share their genius and tenacity with the community.”

Historically the chamber-coordinated event occupies an expansive indoor space like the ballroom at Spanish Bay. This go-round will look decidedly different, with eaters traveling across the city for nibbles and sips served outdoors while honoring physical distancing and mask regulations as part of what Chamber of Commerce organizers are calling a walking tour.

Participating restaurants divide into five districts, with Forest Hill and downtown Pacific Grove presenting the most options. (For a complete list of restaurants involved, see below.)

Downtown is also where brand new Ciderworks, a small-batch operation specializing in pear ciders and pear ports, will make a flavorful splash in the PG Juice n Java parklet.

“Pacific Grove restaurants have always been exceptional for their quality and accessibility,” says Chamber events manager Peter Mounteer. “Flavors of Pacific Grove aims to take those attributes of all of our restaurants and make them convenient and available to everyone in a single night.”
