September 5, 2017 – Chef, caterer and entrepreneur Terry Teplitzky is gearing up to open two new eateries in Salinas this fall. “I’ve always been interested in Salinas and just looking for the right opportunity,” says Teplitzky, who owns the popular Wild Thyme Deli in Marina and Boardwalk Sub Shop in Monterey.
Coincidentally two opportunities appeared at once, so he is putting in a second Boardwalk Sub Shop at 1220 S. Main Street—where Red’s Burger Joint used to be—and plans to open a second Wild Thyme Deli in the Zeph’s Building, also on South Main St.
“I’ve lived in the Las Palmas neighborhood (of Salinas) for 29 years, so I know it’s a vibrant community. Both these spots are going to be great for us,” says Teplitzky, adding he’s been looking to open in Salinas for at least 13 years.
Boardwalk Sub Shop in Salinas is slated for opening in late October and will serve lunch and dinner. Wild Thyme Deli will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. He is hoping to open it sometime in November. It is going into the space formerly occupied by Portobello’s, which just re-opened in the Taylor Farms building in Oldtown Salinas.
